It gives
me great pleasure to welcome you to Placements at
the ISB. A buoyant economy, fantastic recruiters and
a very talented student pool, has resulted in one of
the best placements at the ISB, for the Class of
2007. The story continues with the current batch –
extremely talented with diverse experience.
For the Class of 2007, 202 companies visited our
campus and made 584 offers. A new feature was that
apart from traditional areas like Consulting,
Finance, Manufacturing, etc. our students received
offers from a variety of companies in new sectors,
namely Real Estate, Oil and Energy, Media,
Microfinance, NGO, Education, and Healthcare. As
always several students from the Class of 2007 made
dramatic career moves. From the Automobile Industry
to Banking, from the Transport Department to
Telecom, from being a Doctor in the Armed Forces to
a Global Fund Manager, students made many
interesting career shifts.
The Class of 2008 at the ISB saw 425 new admissions
this year. Classes started for this batch on April
30th, and these students will have their placements
period in February 2008. The number of international
students this year has shown a significant increase,
underscoring the fact that ISB is now a global
destination. Another noteworthy development this
year was the balance struck between students from
technical and non-technical backgrounds with a
significant increase in the diversity factor. The
average GMAT score this year was 707.46, the highest
being 780. They have an average work experience of
five years. While there are no standard measures,
the ISB does well in all measures like selectivity
ratio, yield and average GMAT scores and all these
are comparable to the best B-schools in the world.
I welcome you to visit the ISB and to spend time
with the Class of 2008, acquainting them with the
nuances of your industry and your company. The
